The Squaw Valley Institute is proud to announce our inaugural Summer Band Camp sessions. Our mission at SVI is our dedication to connecting the community through inspirational programming celebrating the arts, education, wellness, and adventure. Our vision is to enrich our local mountain culture, effecting innovative and authentic change for a stronger future. In short, we feel kids need a stronger connection to music and a platform to grow as both performers and group leaders working together as a team.
Children are the future. Music is proven to be one of the most powerful art forms heightening brain development as well as cognitive and gross motor skills. Studies show clear correlation between learning music and heightened comprehension in language arts and math skills. It’s also an excellent way to help children cultivate patience, improve concentration, and transfer those skills to their academic performance. We all know and understand the importance of group dynamics and general people skills to carry you successfully through life. Why not have fun this Summer and expose your child to a world of creative energy. SVI is offering two 5 week coaching sessions with several special guest mentors that will certainly unlock your child’s inner superstar!
This summer we will offer a 5-week coaching sessions. Both sessions feature coaching two days per week. Students will have the option to miss 2 days per session to allow for our busy summer schedules while still accomplishing the goals of the curriculum.
Phase 1- Music coaches work with 15-20 kids over each session. Each Coach will give personal instruction to 3-4 kids per instrument. This will shape them and prepare them for group performances in break out sessions.
