Fire Monks is a book about how five monks of the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in Big Sur banded together to risk their lives and save the oldest Zen Buddhist Monastery in the country from a devastating fire.  Written by Colleen Busch, a Bay area resident and homeowner in Lake Tahoe, the book is a gripping tale of how the monks quickly learned to guide rather than fight the fire. 

Joining Colleen in discussion will be one of the monks, David Zimmerman, along with our own Fire Department chief, Pete Bansen for a lively discussion on the Big Sur fire along with other dangers in our own backyard.  Books available for sale and signing.
